More about this photo gallery
On September 11, 2011, nearly a thousand Arizonans gathered to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
Christians, Muslims, and Jews came together from around the city to walk side-by-side in a public gesture of unity and friendship, to remember those who died, and to stand together for peace.
The candlelight peace walk, put on by Orangewood Nazarene Church, the Vineyard Church of Gilbert, and the Islamic Community Center of Phoenix, wound through diverse neighborhoods and along a major highway, drawing the attention of neighbors, shopkeepers, drivers and local news, and making a corporate statement for peace.
