More about this documentary
South Africa has one of the highest incidences of domestic violence in the world. Sadly, there is often little empathy or comprehension of the consequences for the affected women. If they are unmarried and fall pregnant, condemnation usually follows. They often cannot return after giving birth to their baby, and have no alternative but to either live on the street or find a way to create a new life. Enza is an NGO that was set up in the Paarl/Wellington area near Cape Town to help the victims of domestic violence build a better future for themselves. This photo documentary focuses on how Enza has helped turn around the life of one young woman, Whitney Opperman, after she was abused since the age of 15.
