Now We’re Onto Something - Collaborative Projects #3
by Mario Mattei on November 19, 2010
Let's continue another brainstorm session as Visual Peacemakers. This is project #3. You can see previous posts to get a history on what's happening.
I'm re-capping the major themes and project ideas from a previous lengthy discussion. There's 4 project ideas we're covering in 4 different posts.
Projects Overview
1. Hardcover Photo Book for Visual Peacemaking by community members
2. Charter for Visual Peace multimedia promo video / photo documentary
3. Visual Peacemaking Presentation to empower individual members
4. eBook "Visual Peacemaking: photography on the healing-edge" (other sub-titles possible)
These projects will complement what we're already doing, so continue to upload your work to the growing visual collection. I think what attracted many of us to IGVP was the idea that we could make a difference together… we have not lost our vision for that!
#3 Project: Visual Peacemaking presentation (already in progress, but brought up a lot in the original brainstorm)
Purpose: To empower members who are ready to speak publicly by giving them resource they need. Also used by Guild & Founders to present IGVP to audiences.
Description: A "sticky" presentation to communicate the What, Why, & How of visual peacemaking, including a call to embrace socially conscious image-viewing by utilizing the Charter for Visual Peace. Slides in Keynote / PPT / (Browser?) for a speaker to utilize. Include "Take the Journey" video to inspire & inform audience. Include project #2 Charter for Visual Peace multimedia video / photo doc
Platform: Mostly offline presentations given by Founders, Guild, and select VPC members. Members up to the task of public communicating, and given the venue, could submit a request to present. IGVP website & social media could report news of these events.
Logistical notes: None.
Point person: Mario
Members involved: VPC members with the venue & readiness for public communicating. Guild can present and offer input into the presentation (Matt Brandon already is). Mario & Logan will present IGVP at various venues. Some bi-lingual members can create a version in their own language.
Results: We are many, in many places. We'd advocate our cause on the ground in many places to a variety of audiences. We'd empower members to present Visual Peacemaking. We'd advance IGVP and bring exposure to the cause.
Questions:
Would you use this? Where?
What do you think about making this available to anyone who wants to present Visual Peacemaking?
Are you bilingual and ready to create a version in your language?
Do you think this is a good idea, and how can we make it better?
Want to volunteer on anything here?
Please comment and infuse these ideas & points with your own. Offer your support & involvement where you feel the urge to. We appreciate your contributions to shaping the future of visual peacemaking!
