Mali can be a dusty and dry country and the south of the country is certainly less well known than the rest of the country which is punctuated by famous tourist draws such as Timbuktu. Despite sometimes crippling poverty fashion and colour is important to the people of Southern Mali and this colour seeps through every aspect of daily life. The dust may sweep the country and bring with it drought and hardship but still the people protect themselves with a shield of optimism, hope and colour.
